Minutes of the meeting of Electronic Frontiers New Hampshire Tuesday, May 9, 1995, in Litchfield, NH
Perry Engle reported on his discussion with his sister, who is a lawyer, on organizational options. She recommended forming a 501(H) corporation, which is a tax-exempt lobbying organization. We would be able to spend up to 1.5 million dollars on lobbying without being taxable.
Dan York reported on the existence of a defunct 501(C)(3) organization, the Information Technology Assistance Program. He suggested that it could be revived, with EFNH as a project of it. It has $500 in the bank; if it dissolves, its money must go to another non-profit organization.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved with one correction: We have no money, rather than $20 as had been reported.
Gary McGath presented a proposed press release and flyer. Both were discussed, and some changes proposed.
The Software New Hampshire Conference, to be held on October 5, was mentioned as a possible outlet for our publicity. Non-profit organizations can obtain free tables.
Several people expressed an interest in speaking for the organization. Dan York said that we need to package what we're offering, listing available topics and speakers. He proposed that the efnh-speakers list be revived, and that anyone interested in speaking or participating in the placement of speakers subscribe to the list.
Interim officers were elected. Officers are now Dan York, President; Gary McGath, Secretary; Perry Engle, Treasurer.
The next meeting was set for June 6, at MV Communications in Litchfield, at 7 PM. There will be no dinner before the meeting this time.
